Using primordial elements such as clay and sand, Betancourt builds layers of memory over the natural fibers of reed. The work is not merely an aesthetic object; it is a contemporary archaeological trace. Earth tones and rugged textures invite reflection on the erosion of time and the endurance of culture. Within the Palingenesia collection, this piece represents the zero degree of creation: the moment when the simplest matter of the earth rises to the category of an artistic symbol.”
